2016 Nissan Pathfinder Dashboard Light Guide

It can be an unnerving feeling when you're driving and all of a sudden one of your dashboard lights pops on. You may panic but, depending on what the light means, you may not have to worry right away. To help Nissan Pathfinder drivers in the Peoria, Avondale and Surprise area, we're going to explain the difference between indicator and warning lights. We'll also let you know what they mean and what you should do in a situation where one appears.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN INDICATOR LIGHTS & WARNING LIGHTS

Indicator lights, usually yellow, green or blue, simply let you know of a situation with your car. They're designed to let you know that there's something you should have looked at in the near future. Warning lights let you know that there is a serious problem with your vehicle that you . should have checked immediately. Knowing the difference between these lights will help you out in the future.

NISSAN PATHFINDER INDICATOR LIGHTS

  • Front Fog Indicator Light- This light appears when your front fog lights are on.
  • Front Passenger Air Bag Status Light- When this light appears, it will say "OFF" if there's no one in your passenger seat.
  • Security Light Indicator- If this light blinks, it means your security system is functioning properly.
  • Turn Signal/Hazard Indicator Light-When you activate your turn signal or your hazard lights, this indicator light will appear.
  • Vehicle Dynamic Control OFF- When you switch off your VDC system, this light will appear to remind you that you turned this system off.

NISSAN PATHFINDER WARNING LIGHTS

  • Brake Warning Light- This light doubles for your braking system and your parking brake. It either means that your parking brake is still on or your brake fluid is running low. If it's not the parking brake, have your system checked out by your authorized Nissan dealer.
  • Low Tire Pressure Warning Light- Your Tire Pressure Monitoring System will display this light if one or more of your tires is underinflated. If near a gas station, pull over and refill your tire to its proper PSI.
  • Charge Warning Light- This light indicates that there is a problem with your charging system. If it's your drive belt, it's not recommended that you continue to drive. Pull over to safety and make arrangements with your Nissan dealer.
  • Power Steering Warning Light- When your power steering system stops functioning, this light will appear. It's recommended that you guide your vehicle to a safe spot and make arrangements. You shouldn't drive if this light appears because steering will be extremely difficult.
  • Seat Belt Warning Light- This light appears when your seat belt isn't fastened. It will be followed by a warning chime. It's recommended, for your safety, that you buckle your seat belt.
