New for the 2016 Nissan Altima
New to the lineup in 2016, the Altima offers a forceful 270 horsepower 3.5L V6 engine on 3.5 SR and 3.5 SL trims for added potency and athleticism. Its innovative engineering performs like a sports car and creates 251 pounds-feet of torque, all while maintaining an EPA-estimated 32 MPG highway rating.
In addition to its new V6, the Altima offers a second engine for maximum power delivery and fuel economy. A 182 horsepower four-cylinder engine comes standard on the Altima's other five trims - 2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SR, 2.5 SV, and 2.5 SL- and provides an energetic and efficient output. With an EPA estimated 39 MPG highway and 180 pounds-feet of torque, the Altima's four-cylinder is designed for life in the passing lane.
Each Altima trim is fitted with an Xtronic two-speed CVT transmission, whose gearless shifting maximizes power while accelerating, and decreases power while cruising. The CVT provides balanced acceleration for an impressive performance through Peoria, Avondale, and Surprise.
